According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturer (SIAM), India is one of the biggest markets for Two-Wheeler with around 15 million Domestic sales in India and export of 32 million in FY2020-21. Two-wheelers have a Domestic market share of around 81% in Industry share composition for FY2019-20.

The last five years have seen a significant push towards EVs in the Indian road despite the domination of fossil fuel vehicles. With changing trends in the Automobile industry due to electric vehicles, two-wheeler manufacturers have also entered in EV’s (Electric Vehicle) market to manufacture electric bikes.
From Electric sports bikes, scooters to electric bicycles whether it is for Rental/commercial or passengers, Indian startups are contributing to the Indians Carbon emission-free initiatives. Indian startups are not behind in the race with their AI technology and stylish designs.

1. Ola Electric
Bhavish Aggarwal ( CEO, Ola Electric) has launched the very first Ola electric scooter OLA S1 & OLA S1 Pro from his Ola Futurefactory based in Tamil Nadu.
The first electric scooter came out just six months from the start of one of the largest two-wheeler Factories (Ola Futurefactory) in India. The electric scooter comes in two variants-
OLA S1
The OLA S1 provides a top speed of 90 KM/H and an IDC range of 121 KM. The electric scooter can attain 0 to 40 KM/H speed within 3.6 seconds. It can put out a peak power of 8.5 kW and come with a battery unit that has a capacity of 3.92 kWh. It has two modes Normal, sport and comes with 5 color variants.
OLA S1 Pro
The OLA S1 Pro provides a top speed of 115 KM/H and an IDC range of 181 KM. The electric scooter can attain 0 to 40 KM/H speed within 3 seconds. It can put out a peak power of 8.5 kW and come with a battery unit that has a capacity of 3.92 kWh. It has two modes Normal, sport & Hyper mode, and comes with 10 color variants.
The Ola scooters have amazing cool features designed by keeping youth’s Choices. Proximity unlocks Personalized moods, voice control, and many more features with a stylish 7″ full touch screen. From accessing the contact to sharing keys, Ola electric has covered all of them.
The launched price for OLA S1 is ₹ 99,999 and OLA S1 Pro is ₹ 1,29,999 and with the state’s subsidies, it becomes more affordable in India.
2. Ather

Ather is an EV that focuses on the design and development of smart electric scooters. Two IIT Madras Alumni Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain founded Ather in 2013.
In the initial days, Ather received funding from IIT Madras of Rs. 45 Lakh. Later on, Flipkart founders Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal invested around 1 million in Ather Energy.
So recently, Ather energy secured funding from Tiger Global and Hero Motocorp. Then, in the fourth round of funding, Ather has raised $59 million.
Ather has two electric scooters: Ather 340 which launched in 2016 and recently launched Ather 450. Further, Ather 340 can achieve a speed of 70 Kph (Kilometer Per Hour) and its top model i.e. Ather 450 can achieve speed up to 80 Kph. So, the price of these two models is around Rs. 1.1 lakh and Rs. 1.3 lakh respectively.
Moreover, Ather’s high capacity range, high power output for quick acceleration and speed, long life and fast charging abilities are some of the features that make it unique.
3. Revolt

Revolt is a manufacturer of Electric Motorcycles. Micromax Co-Founder Rahul Sharma founded this company. In addition, it is assumed to be India’s first AI-Enabled electric Motorcycle.
Further, Revolt has unveiled the RV400 Electric Motorcycle recently. On a single charge, the motorcycle can run up to 150 km with a top speed of 85 Kph. Also, it comes with 3 modes: Eco, Normal, and sports. It alters the top speed and range of the vehicle.
Also, Revolt 400 offers some cool features like motorcycle sound change, Geo fence for motorcycle, Battery switching at stations, and Geo-location of the motorcycle.
4. Tork Motors

Tork Motors is one of the earliest EV startups in India. Kapil Shelke founded Tork Motors in 2009.
Further, Tork Motors has launched its electric motorcycle T6X with integrated GPS, Cloud Connectivity, and In-built navigation capabilities. Also, T6X offers a 100 km range on a single charge. It can be cruised at 100 Kph comfortably with barely any vibrations.
One of the standout features is that it can be charged up to 80% in just 1 hour.
In Addition, Ola Founder: Bhavish Agarwal and Cocubes CEO: Harpreet Grover backed Tork Motors. In 2018, Bharat Forge invested Rs. 30 Crore by claiming a 45% stake in the company.
5. Pure EV

Pure EV is the manufacturer of Electric Scooters and has a vertical of PURE energy. Further, it is also known for designing and manufacturing its own lithium batteries, unlike other manufacturers.
Dr. Nishanth Dongari founded Pure EV. He is a Professor of IIT-Hyderabad and Rohit Vadera: an IIT-Bombay Alumni in 2016.
Pure EV has Launched four models of electric scooters. These are EPLUTO and ETRANCE having long-range, cost-effective, and Indian road conditions tested and then bicycles EGNITE, ETRON.
EPLUTO is a Premium Electric Scooter model that Pure EV has developed. Further, it comes with a portable battery, whether it is home or office it can be pulled out and charged with any 16-ampere Socket.
EPLUTO can run for 100 km on a single charge irrespective of its speed and road conditions, loading, and slope gradients.
Also, it can achieve 0 to 40 Kph in just 7 seconds, and can it hit up to the top speed of 100 Kph. EPLUTO is priced around RS. 71,999 in India.
6. Yulu

Yulu is a Bengaluru-based bike-sharing platform. Amit Gupta: Co-founder of Adtech Unicorn InMobi founded this company with RK Misra, Naveen Dachuri, and Hemant Gupta in 2017.
Earlier this Year Yulu has launched YULU Miracle. Lithium battery and Dockless both power Yulu Miracle.
Further, it focuses on short-distance commute below 5 km in the big city aiming to reduce air pollution and quickly tackle traffic congestion.
It can travel 70 km at 25 kph speed and weighs just 40 kg. So, this makes it perfect for short-distance rides.
Also, you can rent these bikes after paying a security deposit of Rs.250 and it charges Rs.10 for a 10-minute ride. There is no helmet or number plate requirement for these EVs.
7. Emflux Motors

Emflux Motors is a Bengaluru-based Electric Bike Manufacturing startup registered under the startup India program. Varun Mittal with Ankit Khatry and Vinay Raj Somashekhar founded Emflux in 2016.
Also, Emflux motor is launching its first Electric Bike Emflux one. So, it is regarded as the First electric superbike in India.
Emflux one is expected to go a complete range of 200 km in a single charge. Also, it can achieve the top speed of 200 Kph and can achieve 100 Kph speed in just 3 seconds.
So, Emflux motors aim to deploy around 110 million electric bikes before 2027 and also planning to export them to neighboring countries.

8. Orxa Energies

Orxa Energies is a new entrant in the electric superbike market. Bengaluru-based Husband-Wife Duo Ranjita Ravi and Prajwal Sabnis started this company. Further, this startup is building Electric superbikes with swap-able batteries.
Up-front cost, on-road range, charging time, and charging infrastructure are important concerns for EVs. Ranjita & Prajwal. So, they are all set to address this by their venture Orxa Energies.
Further, Mantis is Orxa’s First offering which will be India’s first fully-electric entrant in the premium motorbike market which will hit in early 2020.
9. Ultraviolette

Niraj Rajmohan & Narayan Subramaniam founded Ultraviolette in 2014. It is an EV company and TVS Motor has backed this company.
Ultraviolet’s focus is more on clean fuel. As an EV startup, they want to combine style, speed, aspiration, and luxury in one machine.
They are looking forward to launching F77. It is a 200-250 cc electric bike capable of reaching a top speed of 150 Kph by end of this year. It can cover from 130 km to 150 km in a single charge having 3 battery packs. F77 is said to achieve a speed of 100 Kph in just 7.5 seconds.
10. Avan Motors

Avan Motors is Pune based manufacturer of Electric Scooters. Vinod Mittal: Chairman of Ispat Corporation founded this company in 2015. Avan Motors aims to manufacture top-of-the-line, efficient and budget-friendly Electric Scooters.
Avan Motors launched the Xero series as the first E-scooter which can achieve 25 Kph speed and does not require any license to ride. It can cover 60-70 km in a single charge.
Xero+ is an improved version of the Xero series which can achieve a top speed of 45 Kph and can cover 110 km on a single charge with two lithium-ion battery options
Avan Motors recently launched TrendE which is the latest electric scooter in the Xero series. TrendE also comes with two lithium-ion battery options available. With one battery it can cover 60 km with a single charge. Further, with two batteries it can cover up to 110 km. It can achieve a top speed of 45 Kph.
11. Okinawa

Electric two-wheeler company Okinawa was founded by Jeetendra Sharma and Rupali Sharma in 2015. The Gurugram based start-up claims to be a 100% electric two-wheeler company with a manufacturing plant in Rajasthan’s Bhiwandi.

Devot motors unveiled its first Electric bike prototype at Auto Expo 2020. The Electric bike can attain the top speed of 100kph and have a range – up to 200 km on a Single Charge.

Conclusion-
Indian two-wheeler consumers are extensively contributing to the carbon-free India initiatives to drive eco-friendly vehicles. The demand for electric bikes has increased significantly in the last two years pushing Electric bike startups to see the demand for their Product.
On the other hand, where the Delivery and logistic startups have been expanding demand for Clean energy two-wheelers has been increased. The Indian unicorn is coming with their target of 100% EV fleet by the Year 2025 increasing demand for rental Electric bikes like Yulu.
More than the government, Consumers of India have pushed the demand for the electric bike.
